Collaboration
businessman150w.jpg My team is working great. The computer network has given everyone access to the files they need. No more running around looking for files, exchanging disks, etc. We have Internet access and everyone has an Email account. We really use Email as a primary communication tool with our customers, vendors, and business partners. I like to have a better way to share those Emails and manage our growing lists of contacts. We also have busy schedules and I'd like a way to share calendars so that we don't over book appointments. And I have a lot on my plate, so I'd like a way to manage my to do tasks, and be able to delegate some to other team members. We also have teams working on different projects and I like to have a way to organize these project groups. Is there some way I can leverage what we already have and still make it easier to manage my business?

If this sounds like you, we can help. Most businesses rely upon email, interacting with business partners, customers, and generally need a way to collaborate with team members and manage their daily activity. • Small Business Network  ( 5 items )
I've out grown my peer to peer network. One of the systems crashed and we lost all the files, another time I needed files off one of my team's systems and couldn't get access to it. Yesterday, I was working on a big project and it took forever because the database files where on another system. And everyone's a little disappointed when the payroll files were accessed by the receptionist. We are only five users and growing but this system is really holding us back.

Is there anything I can do to solve these problems?

If this sounds like you, it's time to get a server based network. We'll take your existing equipment and growth plans and design a network that is fast, secure, and reliable.

Let's review the key components involved in a typical small business or workgroup local area network.

  • Open Source  ( 3 items )

The Open Source Software Community is a growing international group of software developers that take a good idea and make it better. Since, the software source code is available for review and modification, problems are fixed and improvements made by a collaboration of project owners and concerned users and programmers. One of the most notable Open Source solutions is Linux. An operating system scalable from personal computers to mainframes. It has been backed by all major hardware makers (HP, IBM, Dell, etc. ) and software publishers (Oracle, IBM, Novell, etc.).

Because open source software has long been synonimous with free, many development efforts have been undertaken by individuals or sponsored by larger organizations. Even though this is still true, a growing trend is for companies:

    • Offer support services for a fee
    • Offer advanced features for a fee
    • Offer hosted services for a fee
    • Offer fully configured appliances for a fee
    • Offer integrated commercial software
  • Hosted Services  ( 5 items )

Hosted services are not necessarily meant to replace your existing investment in technology. Although some hosted services can be replacements for existing systems, many can compliment existing systems. Businesses look to hosted services because they usually provide these benefits:

    • No equipment to purchase or manage
    • No software licenses to purchase or manage
    • Anytime, anywhere access via a web browser
    • Secure data center operations
    • Automatic upgrades
    • Daily backups
    • Subscription based, pay for use only
    • Free try before you buy trials

Other benefits many become obvious upon review of the solutions. We present these solutions because we think they offer our customers a compelling value proposition that warrants consideration. Take a look and see if any make sense for your business operations.

  • Working Remotely  ( 4 items )

Organizations are reinventing themselves and the way they conduct business. The trend in this area involves more users working outside the traditional office environment. The trend includes:

    • Flex schedules for Teleworkers/Telecommuters working from home
    • Mobile workers working from client's office
    • Salesforce working from anywhere
    • Field service worker productivity
    • Geographically distributed small/home offices
    • Hotel/Hot desking to minimize corporate real estate requirements
    • Easy broadband internet access

The productivity gaines of embracing these trends can be impressive. The technology is there. Can your organization benefit from these trends?

  • Security  ( 10 items )
I have heard a lot about security lately and I'm concerned about our systems. I've read about laws that make me liable for information breaches. I know about hackers and viruses, but what about other threats? Have I taken all reasonable steps to secure my systems and data? I don't need a lawsuit, or have to deal with the loss of confidence by our customers if I have to notify everyone about a breach.

If this sounds like you, we can help. Security is a big issue for most businesses big and small. Threats come from a variety sources, both external and internal. Additionally, you'll need to secure your information from natural disasters, system failures, and other calamities. A good business practice is to have a business disaster recovery plan, and have part of it include parts of your data security plan. Your security plan will include several items, both operational policy based and technology solutions. Our technology solutions focus on solving these problems so here's what you'll need and how we can help.

  • Mobile Computing  ( 2 items )
I work in the office, at home, in hotels, and at my client's office. I make presentations to all kinds of people, prospects, customers, and team members. I need to work with a certain agility. I need a tool that will let me get my work done easily when I'm in the office and keep me going and connected when I'm not. Is there some way I can leverage what we already have and still make it easier to manage my business?

If this sounds like you, we can help. Most businesses have some workers who need a mobile computing platform that matches up their business needs and is easy to use and maintain out in the field. Our technology solutions focus on solving these problems; so here's what you'll need and how we can help.
