How can I work when away from the office?

ImageI have the office computer network working great. Everyone is sharing files, emails, calendars, task lists, and contacts. The teams are all clicking. But how do I tap into all this productivity when I leave the office?

Taking it all with me isn't practical. Sure I could download files to my local hard drive. But what happens if I need a file I didn't download? How do I keep copies all these files straight if I change them? How can I  work from my home, on the  road, in a hotel, or at a client's office?

If this sounds like you, we can help. Most businesses are embracing the mobile worker, the road warrior salesperson, the telecommuter, and just the occassional stay at home day. Our  technology solutions focus on solving these problems. Here's how we can help.

Virtual Private Network

ImageIf you are considering using the Internet to connect your local network to another network or remote user, you'll want to do it securely. A VPN will provide the necessary authentication and encryption to make sure your private data and communications stay that way. There are hardware and software solutions that handle all the security in the back ground. And there are outsourced solutions that can provide similiar services.

Intranet Website

A secure intranet website can be either self hosted on your own server(s) or fulfilled from an outsourced hosting service provider. If you are interneted in self hosting, you may already have the software. Microsoft Small Business Server bundles their Sharepoint solution. Novell bundles their Virtual Office solution. Both solutions allow end users to easily establish team or project websites and allow for a variety of functions including:

  • Posting Documents
  • Inviting members
  • Creating polls
  • Creating lists
  • Creating discussions

Application Deployment

Do you need more than file sharing and team websites? If your remote users actually need to access and run programs and access local network data stores, you'll need to host a terminal services system.
